So tonight I broke my ankle playing football, first time I’ve ever broken a bone and whilst it really really hurt it wasn’t as bad as I ever imagined it would be
There’s a chance I might have to have a metal plate inserted if it doesn’t heal correctly
Meant to be 4-6 weeks, hopefully it’ll heal quickly at I’ve got a trip to Germany in 9 weeks, eek
edit: thanks for all the get well messages etc, I’m hoping the time will fly by as it means even longer till I can get my TR7 on the road, it might be ready before I can get back on the road

I broke my arm when I was 5, I don’t remember how painful it was.

Ouch, hope in mends well.
I’ve never broken a bone (that I know of), though I’ve had an injury that required surgery. Probably the worst pain I’ve ever had was from an ankle sprain though.

Um Germans have iron crosses, not iron feet. Common mistake.

That sucks, hopefully you don’t need the plate and it heals quickly and properly.

Most sports leagues purchase some sort of no fault accident benefits for their players

I can confirm, it hurts, but not as much as expected (broken arm, broken collar bone here).
Heal quickly, but don’t push it. If you push it, you risk greater harm.

Ah okay. I thought maybe you thought he was in the U.S. or something as we’ve the NHS for the injury and statutory sick pay for any time required off work.

Don’t worry, the germans have a well documented history of excellent surgeons in case you need a surgery there.

If they’ve given you the choice of wait & see and surgery, I’d recommend the surgery. I broke my left ankle last year and spent the first week and a bit in a cast where it didn’t set because I am too restless, in sleep and otherwise. Switched to the surgery option and was putting weight on it before the 4 weeks were up. I ditched the walking boot not long after. The limp went away pretty quickly as I went straight back to work in the barn after the 4 week check in. Movement took the swelling, scar tissue and stiffness away pretty quickly and it hasn’t bothered me one bit since.
Best of luck.

No choice, they are going with the going it heals on its own and a plate if it doesn't

Damn, good luck with the healing friend! I fractured my arm when I was a kid, but luckily it was my left arm and I was right-handed....pain in the butt, but it was manageable!
